Collecting Money Judgments in Idaho: A 4-Step Process

Idaho is one of nearly a dozen states Judgment Collectors operate in. We help clients throughout the Gem State collect outstanding money judgments. Our clients can be retail businesses, landlords, and even individuals who have won money judgments against other parties. Consistent to every case is the 4-step process we follow.

Our process guarantees that we give the best effort we can to every case. It is supported by our consignment model, a model that dictates how we get paid. Simply put, we do not get paid until we collect. If we don’t collect a dime, you do not pay a dime.

While you think about that, here is our 4-step process:

Step #1: Judgment Assessment

Assuming we apply the process to your case, the first step is judgment assessment. You will submit your judgment to us for examination. We will look things over and let you know if, and how, we can help. If your case is something we can handle, we make an offer that you are free to accept or reject.

The assessment phase is necessary to help our team understand what they are looking at. Every money judgment is slightly different. Each one has its own circumstances and considerations. So before we can know for sure that our services are right for you, we need to assess. For the record, we can accept a copy of your judgment in multiple formats including PDF, Excel, and Word.

Step #2: Initial Investigation

Should you accept our offer and sign a placement agreement, the second step is for our team to begin its initial investigation. Our team will use every tool at its disposal to find the debtor and assess any available assets. This initial investigation helps us plan a path moving forward.

Investigation is necessary because debtors do not always make collection easy. Some move without leaving any forwarding information. They might even move a considerable distance away. As for assets, it is not unusual for debtors to attempt to hide them so they cannot be leveraged for payment.

Step #3: Making Contact

The third step in our process is making contact with the debtor. The goal is to attempt to arrange payment in the most appropriate way possible. There are times when we can work with a debtor to set up a voluntary payment plan. But that’s just one option. There are other options available in the state of Idaho.

Making contact gives the debtor an opportunity to get on board with payment. If our initial overtures fail, we move on to other strategies. Those strategies are dictated by the circumstances of the case, so we don’t want to get into details here.

Step #4: Payment Is Made

The final step involves you getting paid. Ultimately, that’s what everyone is after. As a reminder, don’t forget that Judgment Collectors works on consignment. We only get paid when we succeed. In addition, we cover all our own expenses as we work on your case. So once you place your judgment with us, your financial investment stops.
